And 2018 is coming to a close. It can be a rather odd feeling. It’s not that I feel a huge change from New Year’s Eve to New Year’s Day. Maybe it’s partially the feeling of leaving yet another year of my life behind, because 2018 will be memories, at midnight.

What kind of memories am I leaving behind? There are definitely memories of blessings! Looking back through 2018, I know that I have grown, and although it hasn’t always been easy, God has been at work in my life. What about you? What kind of memories are you leaving behind? Have your days been full, or have they been empty? Because, without Christ, life is vanity. Read Ecclesiastes 1. “Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity. What profit hath a man of all his labour which he taketh under the sun? One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh: but the earth abideth for ever” (Ecclesiastes 1:2-4, KJV).

Youth vanishes, and age comes to every person who lives to experience it on earth. It is wise to seek the Lord now. Don’t wait until some better time, because that time may not come. We are not even guaranteed tomorrow. “Come now, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit’; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead you ought to say, ‘If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.'” (James 4:13-15, NKJV).
If God gives us another year, let us spend it for Him and His glory!
