A peacefulness covered his beautiful features as his tiny body lay contentedly in my arms. He was asleep for the moment, and I didn’t want to wake him. I was pleased to simply hold and admire my new little nephew. It’s been just about a week since he was born, and I’m so grateful for him. God truly is an incredible Designer, and I find it amazing that He would give such a precious gift to man. Psalm 127:3-4 says, “Lo, children [are] an heritage of the LORD: [and] the fruit of the womb [is his] reward. As arrows [are] in the hand of a mighty man; so [are] children of the youth” (KJV). Some people do not believe this truth, though. They see the idea of raising children as something that’s binding, not a blessing (and yes, some blessings may be binding). Women are actually encouraged, by many, to end the life of their unborn children, and a woman’s career is often put above her child.

Others choose to end their children’s lives because they are afraid of being shamed. There are so many reasons children are killed, today, and we shouldn’t allow ourselves to become cold towards this issue. It is important to love those who have chosen abortion. This is not an easy thing for many women to live with. The guilt that must follow them, the shame that must hold on to them. God loves both the mother and the child, and so should we.
It is time that Life be viewed through the perfect lense of God’s Word. Life is a gift. It doesn’t matter how a life has begun. There are many undesirable and even horrific situations that may result in one conceiving a child, but that baby is still a gift from God. The Lord has a plan for each and every life. Let us speak out for those who cannot speak. “Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction” (Proverbs 31:8, KJV).
